European Union pauses countermeasures against US tariffs for 90 days

The European Union has agreed to pause its countermeasures against US tariffs for 90 days, matching the duration of President Donald Trump's postponement of US tariffs. This decision aims to give trade negotiations a chance, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stating, "We want to give negotiations a chance".

The EU had planned to impose a 25% tariff on various US goods starting mid-April, but will now hold off on implementing these countermeasures to facilitate dialogue with the US. If negotiations don't lead to progress, countermeasures will be implemented.
