Bloodshed in Kashmir: 26 Tourists Killed, India-Pakistan Relations Deteriorate

Kashmir is taking center stage in the United Kingdom because a devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, yesterday April 22, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists and injuries to 17 others. 

The assault, claimed by the militant group The Resistance Front, targeted visitors in the Baisaran Valley. India has accused Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba of supporting the attackers, leading to heightened tensions between the two nations. 

In response, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan and initiated a significant security crackdown in the region.

The attack has prompted widespread international condemnation and domestic outrage.

 Protests have erupted across Jammu and Kashmir, with a complete bandh observed in several areas. 

Indian authorities have launched a massive manhunt for the perpetrators, releasing sketches of suspected militants.

 The incident has also led to a mass exodus of tourists from the region, severely impacting the local economy.
