The Kabaka's homecoming marks a new chapter in his journey to full recovery. His Majesty had been in Namibia since April 14, 2024, receiving medical treatment and resting . Although he has returned home, the King remains under medical care and requires continued treatment and rest to achieve full recovery. The royal family has requested that his subjects exercise patience and respect his human rights during this time .
The royal family has expressed gratitude to the medical team and staff who cared for the Kabaka in Germany, Switzerland, and Namibia . He is the son of Edward Frederick William David Walugembe Mutebi Luwangula Muteesa II, Kabaka of Buganda, who reigned between 1939 and 1969 and was the first President of Independent Uganda from 1962-1966 . His Majesty was educated at Budo Junior School, King's Mead School in Sussex, and Bradfield College, a public school in West Berkshire . He then entered Magdalene College, Cambridge .
The Kabaka's reign began on July 31, 1993, upon the constitutional restoration of Kingdoms in Uganda . He is married to Sylvia Nagginda, whom he wed on August 27, 1999, at Saint Paul's Cathedral Namirembe in Kampala .
