 In a decisive victory, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been declared the winner of the Ondo State governorship election . The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Aiyedatiwa's win after he secured 366,781 votes, defeating Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 117,845 votes .

Aiyedatiwa's victory was sweeping, as he won in all 18 local government areas of the state . Nejo Adeyemi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, came third with 4,138 votes . According to Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chair of the APC, the party's next target is to consolidate its influence in the south-west geo-political zone . Ganduje identified Osun and Oyo States as strategic targets for the party in upcoming governorship elections. The next Osun governorship election is scheduled for 2026, while Oyo's governorship contest will follow in 2027 .

Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC's ability to win these upcoming elections, stating, "You know we are good at getting the target. We will do all that is possible to bring them into the fold" ². This confidence is likely bolstered by Aiyedatiwa's decisive victory in Ondo State.
