BONIFACE SHINES IN LEVERKUSEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WIN OVER AC MILAN

 Nigerian striker Victor Boniface made history tonight, scoring his first UEFA Champions League goal to secure Bayer Leverkusen's 1-0 victory over Italian giants AC Milan.

 This thrilling win marks Leverkusen's second consecutive Champions League success, with Boniface becoming the first Nigerian player to score for a German club in the Champions League since Chinedu Obasi's goal for Schalke in October 2014 .



The match saw Leverkusen dominate the first half, with 10 attempts on goal compared to Milan's one . Boniface's decisive goal came in the 51st minute, after Mike Maignan parried Jeremie Frimpong's shot . Despite Milan's efforts to equalize, including a shot from Theo Hernandez that rattled the crossbar, Leverkusen held on for the win .



The 22-year-old Nigerian international became the fifth  Leverkusen player to score in this season's Champions League. His goal marked a milestone for Nigerian players in the competition, making him the first to score for a German club since Chinedu Obasi's strike for Schalke in October 2014.




"I'm over the moon," Boniface exclaimed in a post-match interview. "Scoring in the Champions League is a dream come true. The team's effort was incredible, and I'm proud to have contributed."


Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, praised Boniface's impact: "Victor's goal was the difference-maker. He's been working tirelessly, and this reward is well-deserved."
