In a groundbreaking ceremony, the Abia state government is commissioning the EROJIM & NCS Shoes and Garment Factory, located within the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) facility in Aba. This innovative project aims to equip inmates with vital skills and tools for successful reintegration into society.

The EROJIM & NCS Shoes and Garment Factory is a shining example of the federal government's commitment to rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates. This Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the NCS and Erojim Investments Limited, with technical support from Poly Technologies Inc., Beijing, China, promises to revolutionize the garment and leather industries in Nigeria.
Key Objectives:
1. Job Creation: Generate 1,290 direct jobs and multiple indirect employment opportunities locally.
2. Skills Acquisition: Provide inmates with training and skills necessary for reintegration into society.
3. Foreign Exchange Savings: Reduce demand for foreign exchange by producing high-quality uniforms domestically.
4. Economic Growth: Contribute to Nigeria's economic growth through the garment and leather industries.
This project marks a significant shift in Nigeria's correctional services, focusing on rehabilitation and empowerment rather than mere detention. By providing inmates with marketable skills, the EROJIM & NCS Shoes and Garment Factory sets a new standard for corrections facilities nationwide.
The project's total investment of N5.08 billion is expected to yield substantial economic benefits, including:
