Video: Nigerian Women Detained in Libyan Prison Cry for Help

 A now viral video of Nigerian women detained in a holding facility(alleged to be Benghazi Ghafodah Prison) in Libya, is currently making the rounds on the internet. Some of the women who held on to their little children, revealed that had been in the holding facility for more than a year and implored the Nigerian government to come to their aid.They sorrowfully alleged that other Nationalities have found other means of leaving the place but they have decided to remain calm and obey the laws in order not to give Nigeria a bad name. 

Reacting to the video, chairperson of The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stated that the video may or may not be a recent one. Detailing her efforts regarding Nigeria's stranded in Libya, the NIDCOM chairperson stated that under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, she had personally gone to detention centers in Libya to facilitate the release and airlift of Nigerians out of Libya. Detailing the horrific sight she witnessed at these detention centers/prisons in Tripoli and other areas across Libya, Abike Dabiri-Erewa affirmed that she had been spurred to successfully facilitate the return of nearly 10,000 Nigerians in Libya to Nigeria.
