FG Implements New Minimum Wage: NYSC Allowance Now N77,000

The Federal Government has officially increased the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from N33,000 to N77,000, as part of the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024 . This change took effect from July 2024, and corps members can expect to receive the increased stipend in their upcoming payments .

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the increased allowance, stating that it will provide financial relief and boost the morale of corps members during their service year . This development follows months of negotiations between the Federal Government and representatives of organized labor .

The National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission communicated a major update to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a letter dated September 25, 2024, signed by Chairman Ekpo Nta. This letter officially confirms that the monthly allowance for NYSC members has been increased to N77,000, effective from July 2024.


This development follows the recent enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024, which aims to improve the welfare of Nigerian workers .
