Eniola Badmus Gives Proof on Expansion of Nigerian Economy

 Film actress, producer, scriptwriter and Special Adviser to The Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on Social Events and Public Hearing, has in a post currently receiving harsh criticism on social media, given reasons for Nigerians to agree that the economy is expanding. Eniola Badmus cited an alleged reduction of imports and increased exports from the beginning of the year till date, as solid proof of the expanding economy. The film actress turned emergency economist, stated that the increased exports have left the Nigerian economy with an "unprecedented" trade surplus of over 14 trillion naira in just eight months, a feat she stressed had until now, never been achieved in Nigeria. Eniola Badmus further president President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for moving the Nigerian economy from production to consumption. In the words of Eniola Badmus:"For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months."

Reacting to Eniola's post which she made on Instagram, netizens have urged her to focus on her job of a ''glorified house girl" and not dabble in economic matters beyond her intellect. They also queried if the actress has been blind or deaf to be plight of thousands of Nigerians who participated in the recently organised #EndBadGovernance protest, a demonstration organised to reveal the extent of the poverty prevalent in the country to the Federal Government and The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
