For the third time in the history of the annual award, the 2024 Ballon d'Or Award will be given based on the results of the season( This is the period from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024) instead of the calendar year. Two new accolades are set to be awarded: Men's Coach of the Year and Women's Coach of the Year, recognising the contribution of coaches to success on the pitch. UEFA will co-organize the Ballon d'Or gala for the first time, with France Football retaining the voting system and the Ballon d'Or name. Some football players have earned multiple and even yearly Ballon d'Or nominations/awards since the award's 1956 inauguration. For the first time since 2003, neither of the two most popular football stars, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, were nominated for The Ballon d'Or Award.
