Former governor of Anambra state and The Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has via a post on his official social media platforms, debunked on claims stating that he called for war in the country. Making reference to a doctored video, the politician emphasized that video was a false culling of his keynote speech at a Rotarian installation in Anambra state. Asserting that dubious persons had doctored the video to suit their claims of his declaring war on northerners, Mr Peter Obi stated that he had in fact, been speaking of "declaring war" on economic stagnation, insecurity and corruption.

Mr Obi clarified that the video had in actual fact, been recorded during his visit to the Labour Party Headquarters where he mediated a clash between his party and the Nigeria Labour Congress. Further reasserting his commitment to a new Nigeria, the politician warned that such levels of misinformation had no place in our democracy where truth and honesty should prevail.
