Nigeria's Minister of Sports Development, John Eno, has issued an apology to Nigerians over the dismal performance of Nigerian athletes at The 2024 Olympic Games in France. The inability of the country's athletes to win any medals, was despite the reported 12 billion naira approved for the games-9 billion for the Olympics and 3 billion for the forthcoming Paralympics- by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on the poor performance of Nigerian athletes, the Sports Minister agreed that the country's performance should have been better and promised to reflect on the cause of the failed outing at The Olympics. He further claimed that the Nigerian athletes did not have sufficient time to prepare for the Olympics as preparation for The Olympics(which happens once in four years) only commenced a year ago. Mr John Eno however stated that Nigeria would put in their efforts to having a more a successful outing at the forthcoming Paralympics scheduled to hold from 28th August to 8th September.
