Vice president of The United States of America and current Democratic Party nominee in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Kamala Harris has chosen her running mate. Ms. Harris chose Tim Walz, a former High School teacher and current governor of Minnesota who gained national attention for his strategy of calling Trump and JD Vance "weird", a phrase Harris has adopted when speaking of her rivals. Tim Walz will be officially introduced as Kamala Harris's running at a rally in Philadelphia holding tonight.

60 year old Timothy (Tim) Walz has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019. He was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 2007 to 2019, representing Minnesota's 1st congressional district. Walz served in the National Guard for 24 years after enlisting in 1981 and attained the rank of command sergeant major near the end of his service, but retired as a master sergeant in 2005 for benefit purposes. Walz and his wife, Gwen, married in 1994. They lived in Mankato, Minnesota, for nearly 20 years before moving to Saint Paul with their two children upon his election as governor. Walz is Lutheran.
