A 23 year old South African woman identified as Bongiwe Praise Magwaza, has been handed a 39 year prison sentence for the murder of her 36 year old police sergeant boyfriend, Kgopotso Ntsana. Magwaza who received her sentence at The Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday, 14 August 2024, shot her police officer boyfriend in the head with his service pistol in the house they shared in Leomakalapa next to Windmill Park Estate. The murder occurred on 2nd December 2022 and the now convicted Bongiwe had reportedly shot Sergeant Ntsana in order to go spend time with her other lover who resided in Germiston.

Bongiwe Praise Magwaza who's originally from Gauteng, was handed a 20 year sentence for murder, 7 years for the unlawful possession of a firearm, 5 years for unlawful possession of ammunition and 7 years for defeating the ends of justice(she staged the murder to look like a suicide). In the course of her trial, Bongiwe was also declared unfit to possess a firearm by the Johannesburg High Court.
