A political party named The Yoruba Party founded by a Nigerian in the UK, Olusola Oni, who was also the sole candidate of the party who aimed to represent the Peckham constituency, has been trolled by other Nigerians resident in the UK following the candidate and party's dismal loss at the polls. Nigerians harshly lampooned the party's founder, Olusola Oni, for carrying over bigotry and tribalism from Nigeria to the diaspora. They reminded him that The UK had a working system that was not groomed on tribal or cultural sentiments.

When Olusola Oni founded the Yoruba Party in The UK in June 2024, he said the party was fielding candidates in the election to empower the Yoruba voice in British politics. Olusola who took the second to the last spot in the election, garnered 261 votes while the winner of the election, Miatta Nema Fahnbulleh, garnered 22,813 votes. Miatta Nema Fahnbulleh, a Liberian-born British economist won the seat in the 2024 United Kingdom general election. Until December 2023, she was the Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation.
