Following the 15 July 2024 special announcement by minister of information, Mohammed Idris, stating that the visa imposed on Nigerians by the UAE had been lifted after mutually beneficial negotiations with the government of The UAE and The Federal Government of Nigeria, the government of The UAE has publicly stated the website for Nigerians to apply for their UAE visas was not in any form affiliated with The United Arab Emirates. It will be recalled that after Mohammed Idris's announcement of the ban lift, it was circulated that a bank balance of 10,000 dollars and the nonrefundable fee of 640,000 naira were required to apply for The UAE Visas.

The Government of The UAE has denied knowledge of these strident conditions and investigative Nigerian journalist, David Hundenyin, has reported that his investigation regarding the application fees revealed that the DV Hub is "just another heist" and is not affiliated with the government of The UAE. Mr Hundenyin's investigation also showed that the DV Hub website is linked to a Canadian man called Jean Geoffrion who "specialises in helping African governments to levy their citizens for high traffic services".
