Following the planning of a nationwide demonstration slated to commence on 1st August 2024, former presidential aide and controversial political analyst, Reno Omokri, has in a lengthy post, suggested ways the Lagos State Government can "support" the planned protests. The former presidential aide encouraged the Lagos State Government to provide free transportation that can convey all Lagos residents planning on partaking in the protests, to their original state of origin.

Citing the mandatory sit-at-home situation in the east as well unpaid salaries by the Abia state government. Reno Omokri implied that easterners resident in Lagos had no moral justification to participate in a protest against the Lagos State Government because the minimum wage obtainable in Lagos is higher than that of many Igbo states. He also accused easterners resident in Lagos of taking advantage of the free or subsidized infrastructure in every sector of the state, a setting which he alleged remains unobtainable in the East.
