Oro Festival: Lagosians Insist on Planned Protests

 Following a public announcement stating that the traditional Oro Festival in Lagos will commence of 1st August 2024, the same date slated for commencement of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest, Lagosians have expressed displeasure at the seeming attempt of the government to thwart the intended demonstration. The public announcement on The Oro Festival, claimed that the cultural would involve certain rituals. In typical practice, residents are often advised to stay indoors during The Oro Festival.

Reacting to the public announcement, Lagosians have harshly criticized the government and traditional rules for their trickery. They have also vowed  that no "Oro" ceremony will prevent Nigerians from protesting in Lagos State or anywhere else in the country. Stating that the Oro Festival which used to be a prestigious event has now been reduced to political tool, netizens emphasized their determination to exercise superior authority over traditional, cultural and political interference in the planned nationwide protests.
