Following the planning of a nationwide demonstration slated to commence of 1st August, the traditional ruler of The Benin Kingdom has via his Chief Press Secretary, released public notice urging residents of Benin City to halt their plans to participate in the protest. The public announcement issued of 24th July 2024, stated that The Omo 'N' Oba wished to appeal to the general public to give The Federal Government enough time to implement an economic policy that will alleviate the current hardship in the country.

Stating that things have to be rough for a while in order to get better, the public announcement from the palace claimed that all traditional rulers in the country held an emergency meeting with the government of 24th July with the assurance of positive results in the near future. The notice also disclosed the Federal Government has been urged to intensify efforts in their implementation of economic and security policies.
