The governorship election of Edo state is set to take place on 21st September 2024. While Prof Mahmoud assured that despite the damage, the commission has recovered more than 3,500 of the BVAS machines affected by the aforementioned flooding, he further expressed worry that the other machines which have not become recovered in the aftermath of the flooding would most likely lead to an inadequate number of BVAS machines for the election. The INEC in seeking a solution regarding the affected or destroyed machines, hinted at a need for support from states surrounding Edo state.
