A 12 year old girl in Tennessee has been charged with murder after she was accused of smothering her 8 year old cousin as the younger girl slept. A security camera recorded the killing which took place on 15 July, inside the bedroom they shared in their residence located in Humboldt. The recording from the security camera showed the 12 year old suffocating the younger cousin(named Demeria Hollingsworth) with their bedclothes while she slept. She had also gone on to rearrange her 8 year old cousin's body after she saw that she had stopped breathing.

Speaking to reporters, a relative revealed that the young girls who came into town to spend time with their grandmother, had been arguing over an iPhone. The authorities have stated that as a result of the video evidence, the 12 year old adolescent has been charged with first degree murder and tampering of evidence. Following public revelation of 8 year old Demeria Hollingsworth's murder by her cousin, her mother, Rayana Smith, has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the funeral expenses. In Rayana's words: "I just lost my baby, the most beautiful child of God. The pain I’m feeling is unbearable. I have to now live life without her in this crazy world."
