Yahaya Bello: Court Adjourns Arraignment

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday 27 June 2024, adjourned the arraignment of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, until July 17, 2024. During the proceedings which led to the adjournment of Yahaya Bello's arraignment, his lawyer, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), applied to withdraw his appearance for the former governor. Yahaya Bello himself also failed to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja to enter his plea to the charge against him, he instead sought via his lawyers that his case he transferred from Abuja to the Federal High Court, Lokoja Judicial Division, Kogi state. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has however, shown strong resistance to Yahaya Bello's request of an administrative transfer to Kogi state.
