Prior to the discovery of Farida in the snake's belly, she had been declared missing on the night of Thursday 6th June following her failure to return home that night. A search party formed by the locals discovered her belongings near a python with a swollen belly whereupon they reached the decision to cut the snake open. The python's dissection led to the discovery of a fully clothed Farida in its belly. Authorities say that despite the rarity of humans being swallowed by pythons an estimated number of five Indonesians have been recorded killed by pythons since 2017.
