Nollywood actor, lawyer and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has in an interview, expressed his dissatisfaction with his political party, Labour Party. The actor turned politician who served as spokesperson of The Obi-Datti Campaign in the 2023 presidential election, revealed that he was unimpressed by the Labour Party's current trajectory(including an inability to organize a national convention) and at this point would not rule out the possibility of leaving the party.

Kenneth Okonkwo publicly resigned his membership of The All Progressives Congress (APC) on 11 July 2022, after which he pitched his tent with the Labour Party on 23rd August, 2022. Mr Okonkwo resigned from the APC over the party’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket when presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, a Southern Muslim, picked Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State and Northern Muslim, as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election. The actor revealed at the time that he joined the Labour Party to help enthrone good governance and achieve a new Nigeria. Several other politicians who joined the Labour Party during the presidential election of 2023 in support of the LP candidate, Mr Peter Obi, have also resigned their membership in the last one year.
