Public Relations Officer of The Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has revealed that no Nigerian who participated in the October 2020 EndSars protest against policy brutality, has remained in prison or police custody. This denial comes after former lawmaker Shehu Sani, made the claim that some protesters had remained in detention since their 2020 arrest. The police spokesperson referred to Mr Sani's claim as misleading and urged Nigerians to disregard it as all individuals involved in the protest had been processed according to the law.

In addition to the claim by Shehu Sani, a list detailing names of 31 victims still remanded in prisons across Lagos, has surfaced on the internet. Netizens have called on Nigerians whose relatives have remained in remandment since the 2020 EndSars protest without a trial, to publicly speak up in order to begin a persistent petitioning of government towards the release of these protesters.
