On Friday, 28 June 2024, 103 Nigerians landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, after their deportation from the Republic of Turkey. While reasons for the deportation include expired visas and irregular migration, the deportees alleged to have been unfairly treated by the Turkish government and stated that they had been detained by the authorities for a period of eleven months before their eventual deportation. The deportees entreated the Nigerian government to seek justice on their behalf as well as reclaim their possessions from the Turkish government.

The 103 Nigerians Deported from Turkey were received by multiple government agencies such as: Ghe National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as well as operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Represented by Amb. Catherine Udida, director of migration affairs in The National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Mr Ahmed Tijani, revealed that the commission had expected 110 deportees but received 103, all males.
