Suicide Attempt: American Citizen Rescued on Third Mainland Bridge

In a post on their official social media platform, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the rescue of an American citizen on the Third Mainland Bridge on the afternoon of Monday 10th June, 2024. The unnamed American had been restrained from committing suicide on the bridge that afternoon as the police operatives held on to him before he could go over the bridge into the lagoon.

According to the police, the unnamed American who seemed to be in his early thirties, had been driven to the spot by his lover and their daughter whom he had asked to wait behind in the car and proceeded to find a spot from which he could leap over the bridge. The security unit of The Rapid Response Team(RRT) had been alerted of the American's intention by a pedestrian who had been observing him. He was subsequently restrained, reunited with his family and directed to the Gender Department of the Lagos Police Command, for further counselling and necessary actions.
