An estimated number of four traders have lost their lives as a result of a violent rainfall accompanied by strong winds which befell them at the IBB Square in Bauchi State, the venue of the recently concluded North East Trade Fair. The rainstorm which let loose on the night of Saturday 1st June 2024, resulted in the deaths of the four traders, with two dying instantly and the other two losing their lives after efforts to save them at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, provide futile.

Confirming the multiple tragedies as well as the extent of damage to property, spokesperson of The Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, revealed the victims to be: 38 year old Abdullahi Abubakar, 32 year old Sadik Ahmed Alfa as well as two other victims of unknown ages, Abdulaziz Abdulrahman from Gombe State and the other identified simply as Malam Musa. The police spokesperson also assured that assessments are being made to determine how much property damage the storm caused with police presence currently deployed at the venue of the rainstorm to forestall further incident and ensure public safety.
