A leaked memo making the rounds on the internet has revealed that prior to the general elections of 2023, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) had set up The Office of Directorate of Politics and Governance within the church, to help coordinate the engagement of members willing to be involved in politics. The memo dated 28 February 2022 and addressed to all RCCG pastors in charge of regions and provinces, urged that required support be given to any member of the congregation willing to be involved in politics.

It will be recalled that prior to the Muhammadu Buhari administration, RCCG general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, had been vocal in his criticism of the Good luck Jonathan administration. Vice president under the Buhari administration, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and current first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, are both senior pastors of The Redeemed Christian Church of God.
