Nigerian singer and record label boss Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley and self-acclaimed father of the Marlian movement, has on a thread on the social media platform X, been told by his former Marlian believers that the movement has ceased to exist. The erstwhile adherents of the Marlian movement informed Naira Marley that there was no space for such activities in the year 2024.

This declaration of the invalidity of the Marlian movement by former followers comes after Naira Marley became a subject of social media controversy following the tragic death of rising music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, professionally known as Mohbad. Mohbad who had been a former signee of Naira Marley's record label, Marlian Records, had accused the record label boss of bullying, slander and other forms of threats to life after his exit from the label thus causing Mohbad to experience severe bouts of depression.
