Ghana Blames Nigeria for Reduced Power Supply

 In a press release dated Thursday 13 June 2024, Ghana has revealed that some areas across the country have experienced interruption in power supply. Ghana attributed this interruption to a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria since Wednesday 12 June, this affecting the overall power generation capacity in Ghana. Nigeria is responsible for an estimated 25% per cent of the gas used in generating Ghana's electricity.

Explaining that reduction in gas supply from Nigeria as a result of the maintenance work being undertaken by the Nigerian gas supplier, the Ghana Grid Company emphasized that the maintenance is set to last for a period of three weeks. The electricity distribution company however assured the Ghanaian public of their commitment in optimizing available resources in order to ensure minimal impact on consumers.
