ExxonMobil Debunks Exit Rumour

 Second largest oil production company in Nigeria, ExxonMobil, has debunked rumours alleging intentions to exit Nigeria. The company's managing director, Shane Harris, debunked the rumour while speaking at a meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, in Abuja. The ExxonMobil MD revealed that the company is instead, carrying out new investments in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The rumours of the company's alleged exit made the rounds after the oil firm’s proposed divestment of a 100 per cent interest in Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited to Seplat Energy Offshore Limited.

In his affirmation of a continual relationship with Nigeria as well as expectant cooperation from the Federal Government, ExxonMobil's MD, Shane Harris, stated: "We are excited about the prospects these new investments bring. Our partnership with the Nigerian government is crucial for sustainable growth, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration as we have no plan to leave.”
