Court Awards 10 Million Naira Compensation to Former Emir of Kano

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has ordered the Kano state government to pay the sum of 10 million naira as compensation to the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, for breach of the fundamental human rights of the former traditional ruler. Presiding judge, Justice Simon Amobeda awarded the compensation while delivering judgment in the case(enforcement of his fundamental human rights) instituted by Aminu Bayero against the Kano state government. The judge described the action of governor Abba Yusuf in ordering an arrest of the former Emir as an unlawful deed which fearfully forced Bayero into house arrest, this preventing the dethroned traditional ruler from going about his lawful business.
