Chinua Achebe Expressway Inaugurated by Tinubu

 An expressway in the Guzape are of Abuja, has been inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to the president's special adviser on social media, the newly constructed expressway was named The China Achebe Motorway, in honour of deceased writer and poet, Albert Chinụalụmọgụ Achebe, better known as Chinua Achebe. The naming of the new expressway after the late novelist comes just a few days after the president named a newly constructed arterial road leading from the northern parkway to the outer northern expressway (ONEX) in Abuja, after playwright and Nigeria's only Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka.

Regarded as a central figure of modern African literature, Chinua Achebe who is globally acclaimed "The Father of Modern Literature" wrote the most widely studied, read and translated African Novel, Things Fall Apart in the year 1958. Winning the 2007 Man Booker International Prize, from 2009 until his death, Chinua Achebe was Professor of African Studies at Brown University. Achebe died after a short illness on 21 March 2013 in Boston, United States and was buried in his hometown of Ogidi, located in Anambra state.
