It will be recalled that following a trial where he pled guilty to charges of naira abuse, Bobrisky was on the morning of 12 April 2024, handed a six month prison sentence by a Lagos state judge, without an option of fine. The crossdresser has remained remanded at one of the correctional facilities in Lagos. The sentence which generated controversy led many citizens to claim that Bobrisky was used as a scapegoat by the legal system because of his publicly professed sexual orientation of being a transgender male and crossdresser, which are sexual orientations declared illegal by Nigerian laws.
