Trader Arrested for Altering Expiry Dates on Cosmetic Products

 The owner of a cosmetics company named Precious Jewel Int’l Nigeria Limited located at River Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Ojo Lagos, has been arrested by officials of The National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for the alteration of expired cosmetic products at his facility. The culprit named Kingsley Awuh, who was arrested after a tip-off from the trademark holders of the products he had revalidated, has attempted to escape the premises but was apprehended by the agency's authorities. In addition to his arrest, the packaging and sealing machines with which he had carried out his illegal activities were seized by the agency.

Providing a list of the expired products with altered dates discovered at Mr Awuh's store and the current legal actions against the cosmetic dealer, NAFDAC stated on its official social media page : "Precious Jewel Int’l Nigeria Limited was found altering expiration dates on products such as White Xpress Cream, Silka B Cream, Bond’s Magic Powder, Bio-Skin Lightening Lotion, Classic Hair System Fair Spotless Cleanser, Oil-Free Acne Control Oil, and Vaseline Blue Seal. Packaging materials, sealing machines, and other tools used for this illegal activity were seized from the facility. The owner, Mr. Kingsley Awuh attempted to escape upon the arrival of NAFDAC officers but was tracked down and arrested. He will be prosecuted.”
