A 35 year old man identified as Dickson Peter, has been remanded in a correctional facility for setting his landlord's property ablaze. Dickson Peter was arraigned at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Thursday 2nd May 2024, on two count charges of felony and arson. The Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru, who did not take the defendant's plea due to a lack of jurisdiction, ordered that Peter Dickson be remanded in the Abolongo Correctional Facility, Oyo Town while adjourning the case to 23rd July, 2024.

In the course of the arraignment, prosecution counsel, Inspector Femi Oluwadare, informed the court that Dickson Peter had on 18 April 2024 at about 12:30am, set his landlord's home ablaze. The fire in the building which belonged to a man named Cepas Okeme, led to the destruction of property worth 6.5 million and spread to another property belonging to a neighbour named Bose Ali and further led to the destruction of property worth N3.5 million. It is yet unknown why Dickson Peter chose to set his landlord's home on fire.
