Prince Harry and Wife Arrive Nigeria

 Following the public statement issued on 29th April 2024 by Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, on The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's intention to visit Nigeria in May, the royals have arrived the country. The Duke and Duchess who are currently in Abuja, Nigeria, arrived on the morning of Friday, 10th May 2024, after boarding the British Airways overnight flight to Abuja. The royal couple's first activity upon arriving Nigeria, was a visit to a school named Lights Academy.

The main purpose of the Duke and Duchess's visit to Nigeria is to support the Invictus Games. The Invictus Games isa biennial sporting event for wounded veterans and ailing service personnel which was founded by Prince Harry in the year 2014 after his deployment in Afghanistan. They will also attend a training session for the charity organisation Nigeria Unconquered which collaborates with the Invictus Games, as well as a reception where military families will be honoured. This visit to Nigeria represents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first official international tour since leaving their royal roles in 2020. In 2022, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had discovered via a genealogy test that she was 43% Nigerian.
