One month and one week after the tragic death of Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo better known as Junior Pope, in a boating accident that occurred on 10th April 2024, while the the actor and other crew members had been returning from a movie location in Asaba, the Delta state capital, his burial ceremony has commenced in his hometown, Ukehe, located in the Nsukkaa Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu state. The late actor's burial mass took place at The St Peter's Catholic Church in Ukehe on the morning of Friday 17 May and the interment done in his family home.

43 year old John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo was survived by his wife Jennifer Okpuno Odonwodo, three sons, many siblings and two parents. Popular for his various roles in the Nollywood industry, Junior Pope started his acting career in 2006 and gained national attention when he starred in Secret Adventure, a film directed by Tchidi Chikere in the year 2007. Until his tragic and untimely death, Junior Pope who fondly referred to his fans and followers as "Swag Nation", appeared in over 150 films and was widely praised for his acting skills.
