Nigerian Student Attempts GWR for Longest Marathon Drumming

 A Nigerian male student of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Elite state, identified as Olaniyi Israel Adewale, is currently in the process of attempting to break The Guinness World Records for the Longest Marathon Drumming. Israel who started the process of surpassing the current record of 150 hours on 29th April 2024, aims to promote the abundant African culture with the use of the traditional talking drum known as gangan.

Olaniyi Israel Adewale who is a third year student computer science at the aforementioned university, stated that he acquired the art of beating the talking drum about ten years ago, from his older brother. Attributing his passion for beating the talking drum as well as his thirst to enrich the African culture, as reasons for attempting to break the Guinness World Records, Olaniyi who had time of this report had reached a 45 hour nonstop session marathon drumming, fervently expressed confidence in his ability to exceed the current 150 hour record. Olaniyi Israel Adewale is schoolmates with self-acclaimed chef, Damilola Adeparausi better known as Chef Dammy, who a year ago, just a few days after former world record holder Hilda Baci, broke the record for the longest cooking time by an individual, embarked on an unauthorized marathon cooking attempt that garnered negative reactions and hilarity from many Nigerians.
