Operatives of The National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), have sealed two unapproved chemical and water companies in the Lafia and Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Speaking to the press on Tuesday 14 May 2024, Nasarawa State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Matthew Adeoye, revealed that before the discovery and subsequent shut down, the two firms had specialised in the manufacturing of falsified and adulterated agrochemicals as well as the production of unapproved packaged bottles of table water.

The NAFDAC coordinator in Nasarawa State further stated that the agency's officers had raided both factories located in the Obi Local Government Area of the state, on 9th May 2024, where they discovered the extent of the falsification and substandard production. While affirming that some culprits involved in the illegal production had been apprehended and handed over to the authorities, Mr Matthew Adeoye gave detailed description of the unhygienic environment within which these factories carried out their illegal and unregistered production of the aforementioned items.
