Lightning Strikes Two Dead in Festac

 Following the heavy downpour which occurred on the night of Friday 24th May, 2024, two women resident in the Festac area of Lagos have been declared dead from electrocution from lightning. Public Relations Officer of The Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundenyin, revealed details of the electrocution on social media, stating that the two unnamed women had been living in a shanty built under high-voltage wires which was set ablaze by the lightning, on First Avenue in the Festac area of the state.

In the words of the police PRO: "Somewhere on First Avenue, Festac, two women remained indoors during the downpour yesterday. Lightning struck, electrocuting them instantly and causing a fire outbreak. They lived in a shanty built under high-voltage wires. May their souls rest in peace."
