A 200-level Computer Science student at Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano, Abdullahi Juli Mansur, was on Tuesday suspended for immoral behavior on campus.
His suspension followed a public display of affection towards a female schoolmate, which the school authority deemed immoral.
A viral video clip showed Mansur attempting to give a red bouquet to a female student, attracting cheers from other students.

However, the university management issued a suspension notice just 24 hours later, citing an immoral act on campus.
In an internal memo dated May 14, 2024, the management suspended Mansur until further notice and constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate.
The memo read, “This is to intimate you that Abdullahi Juli Mansur, a student of department of computer science, with registration no. AUS/SCC/COM/22/1018, was suspended for displaying improper behavior on campus.”
A source close to the management said the decision was made to protect the institution's guiding principles, adding that Mansur had been warned previously for similar behavior.
“This is not the first time the boy has been found with that character. We have two previous cases and the university particularly invited the student but he refused to take to caution,” the source said.
“And as you know the university is faith-based and such manner is against the principle of Islam and Hausa culture. So that was what actually necessitated the suspension.”
