Ekiti Police Nab Phone Thief Who Targeted Churches

 The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended a notorious phone thief, Babatunde Olaoluwa, who has been targeting worship centers. 



Olaoluwa was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly stole seven phones from members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Ayegbaju-Ekiti, Oye local government area.


According to reports, the suspect pretended to be a member of the church and stole the phones while the worshippers were engrossed in praise and worship.



 The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, revealed that Olaoluwa has confessed to operating in Oye and Ayegbaju-Ekiti, targeting churches and stealing phones from unsuspecting worshippers.

Abutu stated that the suspect has also admitted to stealing phones from the Redeemed Christian Church of God and New Reality Christian Center in Oye-Ekiti.



 The police investigation revealed that Olaoluwa would send the stolen phones to his accomplice in Lagos, who would sell them and transfer the proceeds to him online.


The police have recovered the seven stolen phones and some of the victims have identified the suspect and their phones. Olaoluwa will be arraigned in court once the investigation is complete.
