"Come and Carry Your Corpses" Teaching Hospital Issues Ultimatum to Families

 The Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo, Osun State, has implored relatives of deceased patients to come remove the corpses of their loved ones from the hospital's mortuary. Declaring the mortuary congested with dead bodies, the management of the teaching hospital issued a 14 day ultimatum for the removal of corpses which have remained unclaimed from January 2019 to June 2023. The hospital management emphatically stated that the hospital would resort to conducting a mass burial ceremony for all corpses that remain unretrieved within 14 days of issuing the ultimatum.

The statement issued by the management of The Osun State University Teaching Hospital reads: "The management of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo wishes to inform the general public that the hospital’s mortuary is presently congested and crowded with unclaimed bodies. In view of this development, the management hereby calls on relatives who have corpses in the mortuary unit of the hospital between January 2019 and June 2023 to come and retrieve them within 14 days of this announcement. It should be noted that the management will resort to mass burial of all unclaimed bodies after 14 days of this announcement as an alternative to decongest the mortuary.”
