8-Year-Old Pupil Beaten by Teacher in Anambra State Dies

 

Tragedy has struck in Anambra State as 8-year-old Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, a pupil who was brutally beaten into a coma by his teacher, has sadly passed away. 

The teacher, Faith Nwonye, 30, from Landmark School Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area, was last weekend arrested.

 The State Commissioner for Education, Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, while confirming the heartbreaking news on Thursday, May 23, 2024 said:

 "He was a boy…like any other, with hopes and aspirations. He went to school for a better future but met gruesome death at the hands of the people who were supposed to help him achieve his life ambition".

 "A quack teacher in an illegal school bludgeoned him to death. We mourn a life nipped in the bud! We mourn Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo! We mourn and we seek justice!"
