A total of 155 Nigerians stranded across various parts of Libya were on Tuesday 30th April 2024, repatriated by the International Organization for Migration. The National Emergency Management Agency, in a post on its X handle, @nemanigeria, revealed that the returnees were assisted back to Nigeria in a voluntary repatriation exercise programme by the IOM in collaboration with the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by the International Organization for Migration on Wednesday 1st May 2024, The returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, late Tuesday evening on board an Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG. Of the 155 Nigerians returned to the country, there were 125 females, 22 males and 8 infants. The IOM said that officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Port Health Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRM) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were at the airport to receive the returnees.
