Following the tragic and shocking death of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo and other members of a film crew, in a boating accident that occurred on 10th April 2024, netizens and Nollywood celebrities have taken to various social media platforms to drag and harshly criticize Nollywood actor Jerry Amilo, for posting a photo of Junior Pope's corpse online. Referring to the watermarked video and photo of Junior Pope's corpse with tissues stuck in his nostrils by Jerry Amilo as sensitive, Nigerians accused the actor of being an "insensitive and senseless old man".

Celebrities who took to their official social media handles to criticize Jerry Amilo's actions include Nollywood actor Prince Eke who revealed the depth of his personal relationship with the deceased Junior Pope and vehemently declared that Jerry Amilo should have known better than to display such level of insensitivity. Taking to his Facebook profile to apologise for the video, Jerry Amilo stated that he had never intended to "chase clout" by posting the video of Junior Pope's last moments but had put up the video in order to give an answer to the various inquiries regarding the deceased actor's death.
