Undergraduate Drugged to Death on Birthday

 A 23 year old student of the Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, located in Uwana, Ebonyi State, was reportedly drugged to death by his friend on his birthday. According to the mother of the now deceased victim identified as Chinedu Hope, the young man had been lured by his neighbour identified as Daniel Otuechere, to a hideout operated by a drug lord simply known as Yoko, in Umuodudu Ibeku, a town located in Abia state. The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, in Umuahia, ASP Maureen Chinaka who confirmed the tragic incident to the press stated that, “investigation is on”.

Mrs Stella Ogbonnaya revealed that her 23 year old son had been lured to the drug den by Dan in the guise of celebrating his birthday, whereupon Dan had with the help of his other drug addicts friends, overpowered and tied down Chinedu. The group had subsequently forcefully fed Chinedu with a mixed substance eventually discovered to be ice, also known as methamphetamine, with the local name mkpurummiri. When they discovered that Chinedu was struggling to breathe, Madam Ogbonnaya explained that one of the people at the hideout had picked up her son's phone and called a young man identified simply as Aham, to narrative the entire sordid incident. The devastated mother further revealed that her son who had remained tied up, had been thrown into a pit and left to struggle for his life.
