My Refusal to Shed Blood, Reason for Losing to Governor Abiodun -- Ogun PDP Candidate, Adebutu.

Ladi Adebutu, the Ogun State governorship Candidate of People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has given reasons for his loss to Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adebutu during an address on Thursday at Ijeun-Akoni in Odeda Local Government Area, as part of the 92nd remembrance of his great-grandfather, Pa Alimi Adebutu, cited his refusal to retaliate against violence orchestrated by alleged APC-backed thugs as a contributing factor to the loss of 99 polling booths.

Emphasizing his commitment to non-violent politics, Adebutu explained that his belief in life after death guided his principles, leading him to reject political desperation and violence.

"I believe in life after death, that is me. That is why you will see in the kind of politics that I play. You will never see violence, you will never see desperation," he said."One reason why 99 polling booths in the last elections were destroyed was because I refused that my people should repay violence with violence. I cannot be part of the process of spilling blood. I can’t. This is because I believe life continues after death. I am always being careful," Adebutu said.

Reflecting on his ancestor's legacy, he highlighted Pa Adebutu's significant contributions to the community as a trader and agriculturist, which led to his burial in the community rather than his hometown.
